Nymph of Greek Mythology, fluvial god Peneo's daughter, courted by Apollo, implored her father who changed her into laurel. Apollo, after the metamorphosis of the nymph, decreed that from that moment the plant would be served to crown the poets, emperors and the bravest warriors.
